Another great Duck Derby Day for Neasham

We had a fabulous hot summer day for the Duck Derby this year, and while we have never taken a head count on the day, it certainly looked like a record number of people who came down on the afternoon, borne out by the number of Duck Ticket Sales - 1152, which is most definitely a record for us! We also had a record number of entrants for the toy boats - 14 in total.

The winners were as follows:-

Best Boat
1st Captain underpants by Harrison Bailey
2nd  Sockburn worm by Alex and Evie Longstaff
3rd  Tawnydrifter by Emily Murphy

Boat Race
1st  Pink boat by Arabella
2nd HMS Bigmouth by Isabella Murphy
3rd Waterglider boat by Rosie

Duck Derby
1st 832 Sandy Nolan (Ingleton)
2nd 655 Emma
Hickmans (Neasham)
3rd 1149 pam Dunn (Neasham)

Well done girls!
24 ladies took part in Neasham’s Race for Life on 10 June in South Park Darlington to support Tina Murray raising funds for Cancer Research.
It was a wonderful day and a magnificent £4,416 was raised for the cause.
Thank you to everyone who gave so generously.

Gemma successfully completed her sky-dive on 6th July and has so far raised over £800, surpassing her target.
Although she is chuffed to bits for having raised the money for the Neuroendocrine Tumours foundation, she is in no doubt that she will never be attempting it again!
Thank you to all those who have already sponsored Gemma, if you would still like to sponsor her it is not too late, you can sponsor via the following link;

‘My Mountain Life’
An Illustrated Presentation by Simon Yates
On the remote Siula Grande in Peru in June 1985, mountaineer Simon Yates found himself in a desperately unenviable position, being pulled off the mountain face by his injured partner, Joe Simpson, dangling on the rope 50m below. His decision to cut the rope saved both their lives in the epic of survival that followed. With the publication of the book ‘Touching the Void’ and the later film, both men became household names. It was an experience that could put many off the sport of mountaineering – but not Simon. Over 30 years later, he is still an active exploratory climber and guide making several expeditions each year. From the Arctic to the Antarctic, Alaska to Central Asia, there is hardly a significant range he has not visited. Come along and witness Simon’s tireless journey from that mountain in Peru to some of the remotest on the planet. Told with wit, dry humour and lavishly illustrated with images and video collected on his great climbs.
Doors open 7:00pm, presentation starts at 7:30pm

Reservation is £10 per person, available by clicking the button below & purchase online* or via NeashamRR@gmail.com
